The Black Stars are expected to play the debut match in Qatar on the 24th of November. However, traders of the Ghana flag and Black Stars branded jerseys and souvenirs have attributed the low patronage to the euphoria which is yet to catch up with Ghanaians and the current economic hardships.

Ghana is participating in the World Cup in Qatar with their debut match against Portugal on Thursday, November 24, 2022 however, interest in the patronage of paraphernalia in town is yet to catch up with Ghanaians.

But what probably accounts for the low demand?

Some of the many traders interviewed attributed it to the abysmal performance of the national football team in the past years during international matches, the current economic hardships and also the ”wait and see” attitude Ghanaians have adopted on the performance of the Blackstars in their first game to inform their decision to patronize the paraphernalia.

For some Ghanaians, the days when the principal streets of Accra would be decorated with branded Black Stars souvenirs and paraphernalia whenever the national team was playing is long gone and would take a well-deserved win to even the semi-final at the World Cup to bring the love for the National Team back.

For the traders, an increase in the support for the National team would also mark the beginning of a boost in their businesses going forward.
