Police ladies lock up Samaria ladies in 3-1 win

Faiza Ibrahim was the brace queen for Police Ladies as they maintained their lead on top of group D. Match day 3 of the Special Women’s competition saw Police Ladies come from behind to win 3-1 against Samaria Ladies.

Juliet Abankwah of Samaria Ladies opened the score in the 32nd minute. A much improved Samaria side kept the pressure on the officers in the first half.

It was game on, in the second half as Police Ladies came with all guns blazing.

The pressure the officers mounted on their opponents resulted in Deborah Opoku handling the ball in the 18 yard box. Substitute Faiza Ibrahim skillfully and beautifully converted the spot kick to keep the score at one apiece in the 72nd minute.

Coach of Samaria Ladies was at this stage screaming and panting on the stage hoping for another goal. Much to his disappointment, Police Ladies were awarded a free-kick close to the 18 yard box. It was Black Maidens’ Grace Animah’s cross and Faiza’s header in the 89th minute which gave Police Ladies the lead.

Five minutes into the extra time, goalkeeping error from Ayishatu Simpson resulted in Juanita chipping in another goal for Police Ladies keeping the score at 1-3.

Anas Seidu Thunder manager for Samaria Ladies added a bit of class to the game as some of his players were assigned commentating roles at the venue which they did so well to the admiration of the spectators.

Samaria Ladies will play Immigration Ladies next.
