The President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Mr. Kurt Edwin Simon Okraku says publishing names of Black Stars players ahead of international matches is not mandatory.
Ghanaian football Administrator who serves as the President of the Ghana Football Association since October 2019 and a former sports journalist and past Executive Chairman of Dreams in what seems to be a reply to critics who were on the neck of the Executive Committee of the GFA for failing to name the squad that was to play the World Cup playoff with the Super Eagles of Nigeria in Kumasi way ahead of time.
Mr. Kurt Okraku said this in a one-on-one interview with Mr. Karl Tuffour on GTV Sports + Friday, April 15, 2022.
According to the GFA boss, there are lots of dynamics that are considered before going into a game of such a high tempo.
“I don’t think the handles of the senior national team did any wrong for not publishing the names of players way ahead of the Ghana-Nigeria World Cup playoff.
Besides, there are no rules mandating any association or countries to make public the names of players to feature for a game say a week or two into the game”, he stressed.
The President of the Football Association used the opportunity to commend the Executive Committee of the FA for their support, commitment, and resilience to ensure the Stars qualified to play the World Cup finals in Qatar 2022.
