The Public Relations Officer of Elmina Sharks Football Club, Anthony Sedinam Nyammordey believes the return of football in the Central region is a big relief to the people of the central region and mostly to the two great teams in the Region, Elmina Sharks and Abusau Dwarfs.

Speaking ahead of the first and the biggest football match after the lifting of the ban on contact sporting activities “BATTLE OF THE STARS”, a game which will be played between the Retired Black stars and the current players from Central and Western region at the Elmina sports stadium on Sunday, Sedinam explained how the people of the region are receiving the return of both international and domestic football.

“The return of football in the Central region and especially for us in Elmina township and Elmina Sharks as a football team is great because the investment that has gone into our team, the fearsome Elmina Sharks, the stadium facilities that were not use and the guys too were not in action close to six to seven months was a source of worry to us because as they were home, we had to pay them and the stadium too had to be maintained while there was no action so football coming back is a great relief for us in Elmina. And in the town too, you can see the euphoria around the happenings that cannot be quantified into money.”

“We are blessed in the region with two big clubs in the region who are very formidable when it comes to Ghana football and we are happy even to have the regional derby between the two teams, it gives you that sense of happiness in the region in terms of football. The businesses who sell during football activities, the hotels and the everybody is happy here,” he said.

He further told GBCGHANAONLINE that his side have prepared very well for the upcoming season as they had a good preseason campaign, played some good matches including the Accra Hearts of Oak and the purchasing of some five great players namely: James Bisseuw, justice Atto Mensah, Anthony Quayson, Daniel Nii Adjei and glow lamp academy captain Rashid baba sulley.

THE BATTLE OF THE STARS GAME WILL LIVE ON GTV SPORTS+ AND GTV as well as all GBC Regional FM stations from the Elmina sports stadium on Sunday.
