Rugby Ghana honors Women on March 8

The Ghana Rugby Football Union (GRFU/Ghana Rugby) paid respect to all Ghanaian women especially Women in Rugby on International Women’s Day, which was marked March 8, 2019.

Celebrations in Accra consisted of lots of fun through fun games by the Ghana Rugby Ladies and some “Get Into Rugby Schools”, as well as a message from the President and Board Chairman of Ghana Rugby, Herbert Mensah.

Herbert Mensah in a message said it was a day to pay big respect to all women.

According to him Ghana Rugby is and will in the coming weeks be doing its bit with both women and girls having fun in both Accra and Cape coast.

“Over the last few years, we have reformed Women’s Rugby in Ghana. We now have a full-fledged league with teams and playing in it and we are one of the best in Africa. Ghana Women’s rugby is ready for the call and opportunity to pit ourselves against the others in Africa,” Mensah said.

In Accra Rafatu Inusah, Board Member and Women’s Representative, and her team conducted a festival of fun games.

According to Inusah, the Ghana Ladies presented two teams and the “Get Into Rugby” Ladies pitched up with four teams.

The teams that took part included the Ghana Rugby Ladies Team A and B teams, Darul Hijra Islamic School, William Wilberforce International School, Future Leaders Preparatory School and Queens Royal.

The day was celebrated with music and dance entertainment at the beginning and end of the fun games.

Due to the mid-term break, the Cape Coast festivities have been moved to next week.
