Lack of data hampering Clubs’ ability to solicit for sponsorship

Rachel Kakraba

CEO and Owner of Ridge City FC Women and member of the Women’s Premier League Board, Cleopatra Nsiah Nketiah, says lack of relevant statistics and data in football is a major hindrance for football clubs to solicit sponsorship deals. This she said hampers a clear sense of direction for clubs.

“Why would you go to stand in front of GNPC and ask them for money because you know you can’t back up anything you’re saying. We don’t have data, we don’t have stat, we don’t have any information”

Madam Nketiah made the observation when she appeared on GBC’s Sports programme ”Saving Our Passion”, on March 3, 2022, showing on the GTV Sports Channel.

She said elsewhere on the Continent’s attention is paid to putting together a strategy report which benefits football clubs, adding such helps club owners to build relevant plans about their clubs.

“you can check, every country that is doing football at the higher level has put together a strategy a report, data telling everybody that this is what we all need to do to get to this direction”

“When a Club Owner should see that data of that stat, they start to build their own plan and they know where to go, but not in Ghana, everybody has their own little plans about how they can do it to make their little corner as awesome as it can be for them”.

For her it is about time clear plans are made on the country’s football.
