A Veteran Sports Journalist, Social Commentator, and currently a Senior lecturer at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Dr. Daniel Owusu-Ansah has disclosed that the output of Journalists in the Ashanti regional capital, Kumasi, is as a result of market demand.

“I feel that those in Kumasi do what the market there wants them to do” he noted.

Many people have raised concern about the poor and unprofessional manner in which journalists in the Kumasi Metropolis and its environs practice journalism. The situation is said to be worst in Sports and Political Talk Shows.

Speaking via zoom on GTV Sports+ Current Affairs Programme, “Saving Our Passion” the Veteran Sports Journalist, Social Commentator and Senior Lecturer at KNUST explained by saying “sometimes it is very worrying hearing journalists rapping or singing stories.

And the kind of patronage they get, you will believe that it is about the market-driven sports in Kumasi and that may not be necessarily the same as what we see in other parts of the world”.
