Sports Ministry launches the 100-day countdown to African Games in Accra

The Ministry of Sports has launched the 100-day countdown ahead of the 13th African Games which will be held in Ghana from 8th March 2024 to 23rd March 2024.

With the countdown already being staged, some of the facilities under construction for the big event were inspected by the Ministry at the University of Ghana and Borteyman.

H.E Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, Vice President of the Republic of Ghana was also present at the countdown launch. After inspecting the project, Dr. Mahamadu urged the local organizing committee for the games to represent the ideals and aspirations of the country during the event.

He added that, the next 100 days are going to be very vital to building our Sports and putting structures together, as far as the hosting of games is concerned.

The Vice president then stressed that, the government will support the games and ensure that all the visiting countries feel the hospitality and security in the country.

Hon. Mustapha Ussif, Minister of Youth and Sports wring out his exhilaration on the build-up to the 13th African Games. Hon Mustapha identified the event as a catalyst of progress and growth.

“The forthcoming 13th African Games carries immense significance for national development, adding that beyond the thrill of the competition, the construction of state-of-the-art sports facilities in the country, not only provides a platform for athletic excellence but also contributes to the overall infrastructure development, leaving a legacy for generations to come’’, Said Hon Mustapha Ussif.

Ghana will host the games for the first time in March 2024 with 54 countries representing in 30 sporting departments.
