The financial burden of the Ghana Olympic Committee, GOC, ahead of the 2020 Olympic Games to be staged in Japanese city of Tokyo has been reduced following a commitment of $20,000 sponsorship by Ashanti Foam Factory and its allied companies.

In an attempt by the GOC not to overburden the government of Ghana during the games, the Ashfoam sponsorship would provide 100 pieces each of tracksuit, polo shirts and bags in for Team Ghana when the flag is raised high in the city of Japan.

Speaking to the press at the ceremony, the president of the Ghana Olympic Committee, Ben Nunoo-Mensah said it’s the responsibility of his outfit to support government towards sports development in the country.

“This sponsorship has come at the right time and I think this should encourage other companies accept the plea of the Ghana Olympic Committee by supporting its activities towards the games.”

Announcing the deal on Wednesday, Marketing/PR manager of Ashanti Foam Factory, Nana Yaw Ampem-Darko, said Ashfoam plans to support two sporting events for juvenile and youth sports for the year.

“We believe in youth development and continue to support the Ghanaian youth to excel in every field of their career through sports, education and other forms of career choices.”

“Once we see the youth of this country participating in any of the sports on the biggest stage, it makes us fulfilled. The interest is to see our athletes flying the flag of Ghana on the world map,” Nana Yaw Ampem-Darko added.
