The newly appointed head coach of Kpando Hearts of Lions, Salifu Fatawu, says  the team “will go all out” for the best results that will see them at the top in the 2022/23 Division One League season which kicks off this weekend.

Hearts of Lions are fervently preparing for 2022/23 Division One League having finished 4th in the previous season, the team is hopeful to take every chance to seal qualification back to the Ghana Premier League.

“These days you can’t just predict football but of course looking at the preparation so far I believe that we are going all out in all the matches we will go for, match after match and we hope that in all the matches we should get good results and it will enable us qualify this year” Coach Fatawu Salifu said.

The Kpando-based team is confident not to leave a stone unturned knowing how tough Zone 3 is.

“Kpando Hearts of Lions has been away from the Premier League for a while now and people have a lot of expectations for us this season. We know we are not going to get it easy we are working so hard to make sure at the end of the season we’ll qualify.” Coach Salifu Fatawu added.

“To the fans, immediately we start the league whether it goes well or not, whatever the results will be in any of our matches they should keep encouraging and giving us the support and at the end of the season it will determine where we will be.” He said.

This season, the Lions have made several changes in leadership from management to the playing body.

Former Dynamo FC player and midfielder of the team, Dickson Sakabutu who has been around for five seasons was named captain.

Coach Salifu Fatawu, with his experience as assistant coach of the National U-20, is expected to lead the team back into the Ghana Premier League.

He has signed a one-year contract with the club with an option to extend.

Coach Salifu is known for developing players and transforming teams from one stage to the other.

The former Swedru All Blacks coach was instrumental in the national U20 team that won gold in the Afcon tournament in Mauritania in 2021.

Kpando Hearts of Lions will play their first match of 2022/23 Division One League away to Nania FC at the Tema Park on Monday.
