The national under 17 women’s team, the Black Maidens have qualified for the 3rd round of qualifiers for the 2022 Women’s World Cup set to be staged in India.

The Maidens who had a bye in the first round were pitched with the young teranga lionesses of Senegal. In a two-legged affair, Coach Mallam Nuhu and his charges won 4-0 on aggregate.

The Maidens welcomed the Young Teranga Lionesses with a 1-0 scoreline from the first leg in Dakar.

The highly motivated Black Maidens team failed to utilize their chances in the first half as Karima Abdullai’s final touches lacked power.

Captain Georgina Ayisha Aoyem scored the opener in the 49th minute by catching the opponent on the counter.

Fabulous Ladies Princess Owusu scored with an assist from Karima Abdullai in the 58th minute. Karima added a third to complete a 3-0 win against Senegal.

However, for stepping on Senegal midfielder Ndeye Tida, Princess Owusu was given the marching orders leaving Ghana with 10 players.

Ghana will face off with Liberia in the 3rd round of qualifiers.
