The vibrant community space of Agege Street Hub, has officially reopened its doors after a comprehensive renovation, reaffirming its role as a center for youth development and community resilience. The renovation project, spearheaded by DUNK, a Ghana-based, youth-led nonprofit organization, aims to foster empowerment through sports, arts, education, and mentorship.

The renovation was made possible through the generous contributions of partners and donors, including the KGL Foundation, highlighting a collective commitment to creating safe and inclusive environments for young people to thrive.

DUNK has a proven track record of over 14 years of community impact, working in underserved areas of Accra and Tamale. The organization’s mission focuses on creating sustainable opportunities for youth to lead, learn, and transform their communities.

Its initiatives emphasize education, sports, and leadership development, helping to shape resilient young leaders who can influence positive change at the grassroots level. The revitalized Agege Street Hub exemplifies this mission, serving as a space where young people can connect, learn, and grow.

To honor its history and key contributors, the renovated hub introduces a series of specially named spaces, each carrying a story and purpose. Courage’s Hall, named in memory of a beloved colleague, pays tribute to the organization’s values of courage and perseverance.

The basketball court, now called The BB, celebrates the dedication of youth leaders Barnabas and Benson, emphasizing basketball’s role in community building. Additionally, Studio-Khaled, named after the co-founder, underscores a commitment to sports, culture, and youth development in Ghana, while the Dance Studio and Chill-Zone provide artistic expression and relaxation areas for community bonding.

Bismark Voegborlo, Relations Manager at DUNK, expressed that the transformation is about more than just physical facilities. “It’s about identity, memory, and future-making,” he said.

The hub’s reopening, scheduled for late July, will feature youth-led tours, basketball games, dance performances, video recordings, and interactive sessions across the revitalized spaces. These activities aim to inspire young people, foster community spirit, and reinforce the values of resilience, leadership, and creativity.
