Manchester City legend Vincent Kompany missed his own testimonial match on Wednesday (September 11), due to a hamstring injury.

As a result of this achievement, a testimonial match was held to honor him. But the plan to be in the starting eleven for his testimonial game was shuttered by a hamstring injury.

In a press conference ahead of the game Kompany said; Unfortunately I won’t be starting tonight or playing. For me not to play this game, the irony has not escaped anyone. It’s typical of me, I’ve got a slight hamstring injury so I couldn’t risk it tonight but there’s a lot of awesome players”.

The match was played at the Eithad Stadium between the Manchester City legends and the Premier league All Stars having players like Joe Hart, Aguero, Van Persie and Ryan Giggs respectively.

The current manager of Manchester City, Pep Guardiola was in charge of the of the legends side with Roberto Martinez taking charge of the Premier league side. The game ended in a 2-2 draw.
