Koforidua, Ghana – 6th October 2025 – EYW Impact, a youth-focused development initiative founded by Eric Yeboah Wadie, Deputy Director General of the National Lottery Authority, successfully organized an 8-Area Football Gala in Koforidua, New Juaben South Constituency, last week.
The event was designed to promote youth empowerment and community development through sports, providing a platform to identify and nurture football talent across Koforidua and its surrounding communities.
After a thrilling series of matches featuring teams from eight areas, Bonya emerged as the champion, taking home the gold medal, championship cup, and a cash prize of ₵10,000. Nsukwao secured the second position, earning silver medals and ₵7,000, while Trom came in third with ₵5,000, and Srodae finished fourth, receiving ₵2,000.

Hon. Eric Yeboah Wadie commended all participating teams for their dedication, discipline, and sportsmanship, emphasizing that the event reflects EYW Impact’s mission to empower the youth through sustainable community initiatives.
“This football gala was more than just a competition — it was about giving young people hope, purpose, and a chance to showcase their abilities. EYW Impact will continue to invest in activities that inspire development and opportunity for our youth,” said Mr Wadie.
The event drew enthusiastic support from local leaders, football fans, and community members, underscoring the growing importance of sports as a tool for social cohesion and youth engagement in Koforidua.
