The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has taken a significant step in supporting women’s football by handing over buses to the reigning champions of the 2023/24 Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League, Ampem Darkoa Ladies and Hasaacas Ladies.

These buses were presented to the teams, winners of the Northern and Southern Zones, as part of the GFA’s ongoing efforts to strengthen women’s football across the country. This move aims to address transportation challenges and boost the operational efficiency of clubs, ultimately fostering the growth of the women’s game in Ghana.

GFA President Kurt Okraku described the bus handover as a strategic initiative designed to improve logistics and performance for the beneficiary teams. He emphasized that providing reliable transportation is vital for the clubs to focus on training, travel, and matches without logistical disruptions.

Okraku expressed confidence that the new buses would contribute to the teams’ success and sustainability, encouraging further development of women’s football at the national level.

This recent support follows a similar program launched last year, where the GFA provided buses to nine Division One League clubs. Some of those clubs, such as Young Apostles FC and Techiman Heroes FC, have since achieved promotion to the Ghana Premier League.

The GFA’s focus on infrastructure and operational support demonstrates its commitment to nurturing talent and elevating the standards of football at all levels within the country.

The GFA’s efforts are part of a broader strategy to promote long-term growth and development of clubs in Ghana. By investing in transportation and other essential resources, the association aims to create a more competitive environment that benefits players, coaches and supporter.  These initiatives are seen as crucial steps toward building a stronger, more sustainable football ecosystem in Ghana.
