Golden Kick FC has secured a spot in the final of the 2024/25 MTN FA Cup, defeating Attram De Visser 3-1 in the semi-final at the T&A Stadium in Tarkwa.
The Accra-based Division One side dominated the match from the onset, with Dawuud Ishaque’s early own goal giving them a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute. David Amuzu further solidified Golden Kick’s advantage six minutes later, scoring a brilliant goal to make it 2-0 at halftime.
The team’s determination only intensified after the break, with Bless Ege netting the third goal just two minutes into the second half. Attram De Visser managed to pull one back through Precious Yaw Gyimah’s late consolation goal, but it was too little, too late. Golden Kick’s solid defensive strategy and clinical finishing proved too much for Attram De Visser to handle.
This semifinal win marks an important milestone for Golden Kick FC, who have been impressive in the competition. They knocked out Premier League giants Accra Hearts of Oak and Karela United en route to the semifinals, showcasing their ability to neutralize elite opposition. Attram De Visser also made a statement by eliminating Bibiani Gold Stars and Pac Academy, demonstrating the narrowing gap between Ghana’s top tiers.
Golden Kick FC will now face the winner of the upcoming match between Asante Kotoko and Berekum Chelsea in the FA Cup final on Sunday. The team, backed by passionate support from their adopted school FIASEC, will be looking to make history and bring home their first-ever FA Cup trophy.
With their sights set on glory, Golden Kick FC is poised to become only the third second-tier side to reach the MTN FA Cup final since FC Nania’s historic triumph in the 2010/11 season.
