Ghanaian and Athletic Club forward, Inaki Williams has publicly supported his younger brother Nico Williams following an act of vandalism on a mural in Barakaldo, Spain. The mural, which celebrated Athletic Club’s victory in the 2023/24 Copa del Rey, originally depicted Nico alongside Inaki and team captain Iker Muniain. The defacement has sparked controversy among fans, especially amid reports that Nico is close to transferring to FC Barcelona.

The mural, created by artist Carlos López, became a focal point of tension after Nico’s face was removed, and a message reading “Leave or stay, you’ve disrespected us” was scrawled in its place. The act of vandalism is believed to be linked to growing speculation about Nico’s potential move to Barcelona, which has upset some Athletic supporters who see him as a key player and a symbol of the club’s success.
