Former Ghana national football team coach Otto Addo has been named to FIFA’s Technical Study Group for the FIFA World Cup 2026. He joins a select group of football experts who will analyse every match at the tournament.

FIFA announced the panel on Monday June 11, 2026 and described it as a team that will provide tactical and technical analysis throughout the expanded 48-team competition, which will feature 104 matches.

Otto Addo joins a star-studded panel that includes former Germany coach Jürgen Klinsmann, former Brazil midfielder Gilberto Silva, former Argentina defender Pablo Zabaleta, former United States women’s star Tobin Heath and Denmark coach Jon Dahl Tomasson.

The group will work under the guidance of former Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger, who serves as FIFA’s Chief of Global Football Development, while former Switzerland goalkeeper Pascal Zuberbühler will lead the panel.

According to FIFA, the Technical Study Group will analyse all 104 matches at the tournament using live data, multiple video angles and performance metrics gathered from dedicated analysis hubs in Miami, Dallas and Manchester.

The experts will also help select winners for the tournament’s individual awards.

FIFA says this edition of the World Cup will introduce its most advanced football data and match analysis system yet through an initiative called Enhanced Football Intelligence. The system is expected to provide broadcasters, teams and fans with deeper tactical insights during and after matches using augmented reality visuals and detailed performance graphics.

For the first time in World Cup history, supporters will also be able to access real-time tactical insights directly from the Technical Study Group through the FIFA Training Centre’s social media platforms and YouTube channel.

Arsene Wenger has added that the group’s role beyond analysing matches are also expected to identify trends in modern football and help shape future development of the game.

Otto Addo earned 15 caps for Ghana as a player and managed the national team during two separate spells, first between February and December 2022 before returning to the role from March 2024 until March 2026.
