A cybersecurity,David Gyedu of Cyber One Defense also known as DK Cyber has raised concerns over the increasing trend of creating and sharing online content featuring children, warning that the practice poses significant safety risks.
Speaking on the GTV Breakfast Show, he described the situation as “a very worrying trend” that requires urgent attention from parents and guardians. He stressed that the internet, while offering vast exposure, “never forgets” and can leave children vulnerable to cyber threats.

“These children are at a very tender age, and we are promoting such activities. Most of them don’t even know about cyberattacks. They believe it’s a free world, like going to school and talking to friends, but online threats are real,” Gyedu cautioned.
He noted that children often unknowingly share personal information (PI), increasing their risk of exploitation. According to him, even harmless-looking online games can serve as gateways for predators to gain access to young users.
DK Cyber urged parents to take proactive steps to safeguard their children’s online presence. His recommendations included:
1. Avoid posting pictures of children online unnecessarily.
2. Install parental control tools such as Google Family Link.
3. Adjust privacy settings on all social media accounts.
4. Consider using dedicated kids’ tablets with built-in safety controls.
5. Maintain friendly oversight by connecting with children on social media.
However, For teenagers aged 13–17, he advised a balanced approach, encouraging “responsible independence” while still keeping a watchful eye on their online activities.
“Parenting is not just about societal norms and religion; it extends to the technological space,” he said. “The creation of content with children should not be encouraged, especially when it goes against our values. That is not the pace we should be setting.”
