Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, Minister for Communications and Digitalisation has stated that she is impressed with the strategies aimed at flourishing and contributing to a globally competitive and rapidly changing environment.
She urged the National Communications Authority(NCA) to pay attention to the ever-changing technological landscape and dynamic nature of disruptive technologies that are emerging to be able to support the ecosystem to grow and develop.
Speaking at the launch of the NCA’s 5-year strategic plan spanning from 2024 to 2028 on January 16, 2024, at the NCA Tower in Accra, she underscored the importance of supporting the ecosystem’s growth and development.
This comprehensive policy blueprint, developed by a dedicated team between December 2022 and April 2023, outlines the NCA’s initiatives and operations for the next five years.
Minister Ursula Owusu-Ekuful praised the plan’s focus on quality broadcasting, safe electronic devices, and increased broadband access, aligning with the broader goal of fostering a digitally inclusive and sustainable communications ecosystem.
Highlighting the four pillars of the plan, she stated, “I’m pleased to reiterate the four strategic pillars of this plan on which its success hinges.” The first pillar focuses on research, innovation, and process improvement, aiming to create a dynamic and innovative environment within the capabilities.
Encouraging collaboration with stakeholders, she stated that” the second pillar emphasizes stakeholder coordination and engagement, crucial for a consistent and comprehensive approach and the third pillar centers on human resource strengthening, aiming to enhance skills and knowledge across divisions for improved procedures and controls.”
Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful highlighted the significance of the fourth pillar in optimizing resources, diversifying growth areas, and generating revenue for the NCA. This includes efficient spectrum management, digital transformation, and revenue generation through commercialization and organizational initiatives.
She commended the strategies aimed at contributing to a globally competitive environment, emphasizing the plan’s alignment with creating an enabling environment for Ghanaian solutions to compete globally.
Mrs Owusu encouraged the continued engagement with stakeholders to implement regulatory interventions consistent with the vision, goals, and government policies.
