Landslide at Asukawkaw Mountain blocked Highways at Wurawura Dambaye

A landslide has moved the top layer of Asukawkaw mountain downwards near Asukawkaw bridge on Wurawura Dambaye Highways in the Krachi East District of The Volta Region.
The landslide which was caused by an underground water has covered the two lanes of the road leading to Asukawkaw and Katanga townships.


A former Assemblyman of the Asukawkaw Electoral Area Farok Jawula, in an interview with gbcghanaonline’s Edzorna Francis Mensah said “it’s very dangerous since this has happened in that sharp curve”.
“When went to the scene, we heard a very loud noice, ‘gbogloo’ and we’ve ran awy for our lives. When we came back later the mountain have shifted to cover the road the more”.
According to him, when it rains drivers and other road users cannot use the road agin.
He mentioned that, the natural disaster occurred on Friday morning, of August 10, 2018 and he has since, informed the Municipal Chief Executive and The Police.
According to him, the Police have since condon off the place to avert vehicular accident.
At the time of filing this report, the debries have covered two and half (2,1/2) of the three lanes, we had to drive with total care on the shoulder of the road.
