The president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has cut sod for the Kasoa-Bawjiase Road Project.
The Ministry of Roads and Highways, through the Ghana Highway Authority, announced the commencement of the rehabilitation of the Kasoa–Bawjiase Road (Km 10–24), as part of the President’s two-day working tour of the Central region on Friday, September 1.
The Kasoa–Bawjiase Road is a regional road, classified as (R15), and connects Kasoa in the Awutu Senya East Municipality to Bawjiase in the Awutu Senya West District of the Central Region.
Kasoa has a big market centre, which attracts many people for economic and business activities.
Bawjiase and towns including Adawukwao, Jei Krodua, Gyan Nkwanta, Anomawobi, Mankomeda, Papaase No. 1 and 2, Oklu Nkwanta, and Ofaakor are all located along the road corridor.
These towns and surrounding communities are fast growing in population and land use size, as a result of the commercial activities at Kasoa and Bawjiase.
The road corridor is in very poor condition, thus affecting the movement of people, goods, and services, thereby resulting in high vehicle operating costs.
The road, when completed, will facilitate efficient transportation and healthcare delivery as well as access to markets and other commercial centres.
The project duration is twenty-four (24) calendar months, and it is anticipated that the contractor will complete the project ahead of schedule, looking at the progress of work so far.
