The Member of Parliament for North Tongu and Ranking Member on the Foreign Affairs Committee of Parliament, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has stated emphatically that the Architectural Designer and Consultant for the National Cathedral, David Adjaye must return the ¢32 million cedis given to him now or will be forced to return it if NDC came to power.

According to the MP, Mr. Ajaye, the Architect was given the contract without recourse in the Public Procurement Law.

“And you must also bear in mind that David Adjaye was given this contract without the recourse in the Public Procurement Law. So then you don’t take out public funds if he has to, if he doesn’t return it now, he will certainly return it when the NDC comes to power,” according to Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.

Speaking on the GTV Breakfast Show, the MP alleged that, a lot of money has been spent on the building of the Cathedral so, measures have been put in place to prosecute people involved in it.

“Hundreds of millions of Ghana Cedis has been spent. Yesterday, he talked only about the 25 million Ghana cedis, he said nothing about the 32 million cedis to David Adjaye, he had nothing about the Hundred and fifty. People will be prosecuted for all these atrocities. Hmm, we want to fight this at our there. For now, using the parliamentary process as I have said, all kinds of tools available to us in the parliamentary basket to urgent questions have been deployed. We are considering the vote of censure for the Financial Minister. We can also set up the probe as we discussed for Sputnik V and invite him, summon him,” he added.

“You know, Article 185 has been violated. This international company if you read the Water Ville Judgement, a copy I have here, the Supreme Court held that all International Business Transactions must be brought to Parliament and they were not …..so we will pursue them on this matter,” he stated.
