One significant way to improve the human rights situation on the ground in various countries and also gain knowledge through the sharing of best practices among stakeholders is through the adoption of the Universal Periodic Review, UPR.
The Universal Periodic Review, UPR is a mechanism for the United Nations Human Rights Council that is dedicated to measuring progress in Human Rights and also promotes engagements in all aspects of Rights.
Briefing Journalists at the Universal Human Rights Office in Geneva Switzerland, on “The Universal Periodic Review: Reporting on Progress’’, Nicoletta Zappile, with the UPR Info, disclosed that Ghana is soon to present its report on the Human Rights Situation in the country.
“Ghana has until July, 2022 to submit a report, it is a July deadline’’, she reiterated.
The report would among other things speak to how well Ghana is respecting people’s human rights.
UPR Info is a nongovernmental organization based in Geneva, Switzerland that fosters a conducive environment for civil society and States to advance the realisation of human rights and progress on inclusive development that leaves no one behind through the Universal Periodic Review.
