The Northern Regional Police Command has commenced investigations into the unfortunate event that took place Monday morning at the Tamale Teaching Hospital, when a group of irate youth stormed the office of the CEO, Dr. David Akolbila, chased him out and locked his office.
This follows some allegations levelled against the CEO including gross incompetence, misuse of hospital funds and some corruption allegations.
The group alleged that the CEO has been sighted in a number of corrupt practices ranging from procurement cases, supply of hospital consumables and managerial problems.
Speaking with Radio Ghana in Tamale, public relations officer of the Northern Region Police Command, DSP Mohammed Yussif Tanko said police personnel have since been dispatched to the hospital to maintain peace and order while investigations are currently ongoing.
Meanwhile efforts to get the CEO and the PRO, of the hospital to speak to the issue have proved futile. Calm has returned to the hospital although the office of the CEO still remains locked.
