The Ghana Medical Association is urging the public to be mindful of the prevalence of Covid-19 even as Easter is celebrated without restrictions for the very first time in two years. Easter celebrations that mark the death and resurrection of Christ are often characterized by merry-making and picnics.

These fun activities were placed on hold during the outbreak of Covid-19 two years ago. However, given the waning rate of infections, restrictions have been eased following a televised message by President Akufo Addo. The Ghana Medical Association has established that even though only 32 active cases have so far been recorded with no critically ill people, the cases could escalate if protocols are not strictly adhered to, especially during this Easter season.

General Secretary of the Association Dr. Titus Beyuo, advised the public to be mindful during the Easter festivities.

He encouraged celebrants to take personal responsibility for their health in relation to Covid. According to him vaccination is still ongoing and called on persons that are yet to be vaccinated to take advantage and visit any health center for their jabs.
