As the coronavirus continues to spread around the world, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has announced it is contributing 10 million dollars towards the fight to contain the outbreak.
Of that amount, the foundation is giving five million dollars to support the response in China, while the other five million dollars will go to the Africa Centre for Disease Control and Prevention for screening and crisis preparedness.
A statement from the foundation said the money will be spent on “emergency funds and corresponding technical support to help frontliners in China and Africa accelerate their efforts to contain the global spread of the virus.
