Coronavirus: Death toll hits 500,000 worldwide

More than half a million people worldwide, have now lost their lives as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

The United States, the worst affected country by far, has more than a hundred and 25 thousand deaths.

In Brazil, which has the second-highest number of fatalities, more than 57 thousand people have died. Meanwhile, there is growing pressure in the US on people to wear face masks in public, despite President’s Donald Trump reluctance to make it mandatory.

States in the south and west continue to see a sharp rise in infections.

The Governor of Texas, Greg Abbot said matters have taken a swift and very dangerous turn.
