The Italian government has ordered the closure of all schools and universities nationwide until March 15 as it grapples to contain Europe’s worst outbreak of coronavirus, which has claimed 107 lives, an increase of 28 in 24 hours.

Last night it confirmed that all major sporting events, including Serie football, would be played behind closed doors due to the outbreak until April 3.

Iran is also closing schools and universities until the end of the Iranian calendar year on March 20 because of covid-19.
