Former US Secretary of State, Colin Powel dies at 84

Former US Secretary of State and retired four-star General, Colin Luther Powell has died of COVID-19 related complications. His family announced this in a statement on Facebook.

General Powell served as the US Top Diplomat under former President George W. Bush from 2001 to 2006, overseeing America’s diplomacy in the aftermath of the Sep. 11, 2001 terror attacks and the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq.

General Powell, 84, joined the Army after graduating from the City University of New York. He once served as National Security Adviser during Ronald Reagan Presidency and as the 12th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the highest-ranking military appointment in the US Defense Department.
