Germany has recorded more recoveries from coronavirus than active cases. Over the past 24 hours, there were two thousand, five hundred and thirty-seven new positive tests, bringing the total to one hundred and twenty-seven thousand, 854.
That’s the fourth-biggest number in Europe, but just over 50 percent of those have recovered. In Spain, 37 percent of the one hundred and sixty-six thousand,831 people infected have recovered.
In Italy, 22 percent of the one hundred and fifty-six thousand, 363 have also recovered and in France, 21 percent of the one hundred and thirty-three thousand,670 have recovered.
In the UK eighty-five thousand,208 people have tested positive, but data on the recovery rate was not available.
Germany also has a lower mortality rate, which is attributed to widespread testing with many patients experiencing only mild symptoms. Chancellor Angela Merkel and top state officials will meet today to discuss a possible easing of the countrywide lockdown.
