Mandatory Covid-19 Vaccination for Journalists in Malawi from next month

SOURCE:  BBC

Malawi is to make Covid-19 vaccines mandatory for key staff, including health workers and journalists, from January next year. The country’s Health Minister Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda who announced this said this is one way the government is trying to boost its vaccination campaign amid a spike in cases.

He said uptake of vaccines has not been high enough towards reaching their goal of vaccinating at least 60% of eligible Malawians by the end of 2022.

Mr. Chipondo stressed that the vaccine remains their best preventive tool. Official statistics show that about 641,000 people are fully vaccinated in Malawi.
