Zambia President, Hakainde Hichilema has arrived in Accra at the invitation of President Akufo-Addo

While in Ghana, Mr. Hakainde is expected to hold bilateral talks with President Akufo- Addo and other investors. 

Before his departure to Ghana, Mr. Hakainde noted that it is his wish to reinforce ways of addressing African problems using African solutions.  

He said his visit to Ghana will explore and harness the immense potential for enhanced cooperation, ”focusing on expanding trade and investment opportunities between the two nations.” 

Mr. Hakainde Hichilema is a businessman, farmer, and politician who is the seventh president of Zambia since Independence. After contesting five previous elections in 2006, 2008, 2011, 2015 and 2016, he won the 2021 presidential election with 59.02% of the vote.

He has led the United Party for National Development since 2006 following the death of the party founder Anderson Mazoka. 

Ghana and Zambia have had relations over the years. Both countries in several agreements have pledged to enhance their trade volumes, tourist exchange and cooperation in the fields of agriculture, environment, science and technology and transport to bolster their bilateral relations.
