The Ghanaian Times expects the 2019 budget to inspire hope in Ghanaians. It shares the view of economic experts on the need to rake in more revenue to provide the needs of Ghanaians. According to the paper, government needs to mobilize enough revenue to undertake numerous social and infrastructural projects. The Times advises government to maintain fiscal discipline, prevent job losses and continue to work to strengthen the Cedi against major international currencies to achieve its economic goals.The paper urges government to pay attention to the agricultural sector in addition to small and medium enterprises which are considered the backbone of the economy. It calls on government to take steps to prevent misappropriation of public funds.
The Daily Graphic applauds authorities and students of KNUST as well as government for efforts to ensure academic work resumes at the university. The paper entreats the university authorities to be patient in addressing the needs of the students. The Graphic advises senior members of the university not to use their positions to subdue junior members. In the same vein, the paper appeals to junior members not to see themselves as being entiled to all the demands they make. It urges stakeholders to help address all the grievances that precipitated the riots to enable the university to run smoothly.
