The Daily Graphic commends government for fully funding the 2020 general election without any donor support which has characterised the funding of elections over the years. It also lauds the Electoral Commission for the prudent use of limited resources that resulted in the country making some good savings on its budget. The paper says this move is a clear demonstration of the fact that the Ghana Beyond Aid agenda is achievable. It therefore urges state institutions to take a cue from the EC to reduce its debt burden and wastage in the management of the public purse. It also calls on the EC to build consensus on reforms for future elections and urges Ghanaians not to cast doubts on achievements of institutions but rather learn from their failings and improve on them. This, the Graphic believes is the kind of spirit the country needs to progress.

The Ghanaian Times appeals to the Ghana Health Service, GHS, to find solutions to the problems associated with the second-phase of the COVID19 vaccination. It says according to the Service, although 852 thousand and forty seven people were vaccinated during the first phase, only three hundred and sixty thousand qualified for the second dose.  It adds that a timetable purported to have come from GHS gave the dates of their second dose which failed to come off for which new dates were fixed for the current exercise. The paper calls on the GHS to as a matter of urgency address the problems of those who have had their first dose but are not allowed to partake in the second dose and the issue of those who did not receive texts messages and the missing cards. The Times says though the second dose would boost immunity and ensure maximum protection, reports have also revealed that the AstraZeneca vaccines could provide only 76 percent protection. It is therefore incumbent on GHS to continue its education on the importance of observing the safety protocols.
