Actress Beverly Afaglo died of cancer, family confirms

The family of late Ghanaian actress Beverly Afaglo has confirmed that she died after battling cancer, ending public speculation about the cause of her death.

Her passing was first announced by her husband, Ghanaian musician Choirmaster, formerly of the music group Praye, who described her death in an emotional social media post shared on Sunday, May 24, 2026.

According to the family, the actress died of cancer. The confirmation follows widespread speculation online, fuelled in part by a resurfaced video in which she previously revealed that both her father and sister had also died from cancer.

Beverly Afaglo, who hailed from Volta Region, was married to Eugene Kwadwo Boadu Baah, popularly known as Choirmaster. She leaves behind two children.

Over the years, she established herself as one of Ghana’s well-known screen talents, appearing in several popular local productions and building a strong following for her versatility and on-screen presence.

Her film credits include Return of Beyoncé, About to Wed, Sidechic Gang, Aloe Vera and other notable Ghanaian movies that earned her recognition within the country’s growing film industry.

A one-week observance has been scheduled for Saturday, May 30, 2026, at the Green Flavour Events Centre in Community 9, Tema, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

In a statement issued on behalf of the family, they asked the public to respect their privacy as they mourn, while also thanking friends, colleagues and fans for their support during this difficult period.

Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced later.
