Producer and Filmmaker, Kafui Danku has called on women to bring all hands-on deck to limit or eradicate Gender bias in various communities.

The world celebrated women March 8, 2022, on the theme “Break the Bias” to help drum home the need to involve women in the decision-making process.

Speaking on the theme, Kafui Danku the Filmmaker lamented what she called the word-of-mouth kind of action women take towards breaking the bias. She said it is time women make an effort in achieving gender equality in all spheres.

“So, this year we are going to post all the quotes. I hope this time it’s not just going to be rhetoric. When it comes to call to action, women especially those in higher positions should work towards achieving this year’s theme “Break the Bias”.

“Breaking The Bias”, in Gender equality, according to Ghanaian Actress Kafui Danku will be difficult but achievable.

She said the patriarchy nature of our society is something that has been part of us for years, adding that some of them are biased subconsciously.

“I realized some men in my community, Facebook and even among my acquaintances are biased, subconsciously because back in the day men were naturally trained to lead, relegating women to the background, which had one way or the other affected men all over”.

The mother of two noted that the change will come, but will take some time for that to happen, saying that though she is using her platform to champion women’s empowerment, a lot more needs to be done.

She joined the GTV Breakfast Show in a discussion with Kafui Dey on the Yellow Couch, March 9, 2022.
