Chief Executive of Lynx Entertainment, Richie Mensah, says the creative industry in Ghana has just being lazy.

According to the record producer, members of the industry should stop talking about support and work hard.

“What I’m about to say will make certain people angry.  So, I apologise in advance. We are just being lazy. Let’s stop talking about support. That’s the hundred percent truth. The reason why the industry keeps crying for support is that everybody isn’t doing what they are supposed to.”

“Like, will we even need support if everybody up their game?” he quizzed.

He continued: “An industry is supposed to be an ecosystem. So, if the artistes are doing 100%, the presenters are doing 100%, DJ’s ….. then who do you need support from?”

Richie Mensah made these remarks on GTV’s Breakfast Show when asked if he believes the industry requires assistance.

The award-winning record producer, who has two of the hottest young afrobeat stars—KiDi and Kuami Eugene—signed to his label stated that artistes should understand that music is a full-time business.

“When I sign an artiste, the first thing I let them understand is that music is a full-time business. The same way a bank teller will wake up every morning and go to work and close in the evening and then go home, music is your job. So, if you go one day without being active in music, that one day you didn’t go to work and you can be sacked by your boss, but the problem is your boss is your fans, “he disclosed.

Richie also indicated that everybody in the creative space should play their role to the maximum.

“Everybody needs to perform at 100 percent. Artistes perform at 100 percent, interviewer do your research, Dj make sure you play the right type of music, manager make sure you are chasing the right plugs, you get me… if everybody is playing their roles at 100 percent, we will stop begging for loans, support and somebody come and save me,” he noted.
