Chief Executive Officer for Lynx Entertainment, Richie Mensah says working with international record labels encouraged him to up his game and compete well in the Ghanaian music industry.
When asked the labels he looks up to, he headlined Sony music, Universal, Warner Brothers and Empire.
He described the Ghanaian music industry as “lazy” supporting his claim saying “we wouldn’t need support if everybody upped their game”.
Speaking on the GTV Breakfast Show, the Lynx Entertainment CEO called for attitudinal change from all stakeholders in the industry.
“An industry is supposed to be an ecosystem. So, if the artist is doing 100 percent, presenters 100percent, managers 100percent, DSPs 100percent, then who are you waiting for support from” he argued.
While on the show, Tiny his longtime friend and brother in the industry praised his work and the impact he has had in the Ghanaian industry.
“Bigups to Richie and where he is gotten so far. And I know that there are more things to do. I pray for him, Lynx entertainment. Keep up the good work.”
On talent, Mr. Mensah said Ghana is unmatched but inadequate infrastructure, ideas and the level of marketing is what makes other countries especially the Nigerian industry better than that of Ghana.
According to him, Ghanaians are naturally laid back when it comes to promoting their brands, however applying a little push will impact and solve the marketing problems.
“One thing is that, Ghanaians don’t market hard as other countries, as Nigerians. Nigerian are marketing even when they are walking. When you get to the Nigerian airport, the way the peddlers come and sell to you is different from the way the Ghanaian sell to you”, according to Richie Mensah.
