Volta Region: Ghana Tourism Authority shuts down 34 illegal tourism facilities

Thirty-four tourism facilities that were operating illegally in the Volta region have been shut down as part of measures to Sanitise the sector.

An enforcement team from the Volta Regional office of the Ghana Tourism Authority ( GTA) undertook the exercise last month.

The affected facilities where mainly hotels, restaurants, guest houses and other tourism enterprises operating without the requisite license.

The exercise was started in September this year by a combined enforcement team comprising staff of the GTA, officers from its regional and district/ municipal offices and the police.

The affected facilities are in Sogakope, Akatsi, Agbozume, Dodi, Papase, Worawora, Dambai, Kete Krachi and Adidome. The rest are in Dzemeni, Nkwata, Hohoe, Ho, Kpassa, Nkonya, Wli, Kpando and Kodiabe.
