Coronavirus: Public mandated to wear face masks

The Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyeman Manu, has asked Ghanaians to adhere to the protocols regarding wearing of nose masks as it is mandatory.

He noted that most people are not doing as directed and this could have serious implications.

Mr. Agyeman Manu said the wearing of the nose mask is going to be part of society for a long time and all should endeavour to acquire it.

He was speaking at a Press Briefing in Accra.

Mr. Agyeman Manu also called for attitudinal change among the citizenry to ensure success in the fight against Covid-19.

Giving some education and guidance on the wearing of the face masks, the Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Patrick Aboagye, stressed, that wearing of the mask is only effective if proper hand washing and social distancing is ensured.

He said locally made masks from fabric, should be routinely washed, dried and ironed out before re-use.

Dr. Aboagye urged organizations to ensure that staff and visitors coming into their offices, wear face masks.
