May Day, also known as Workers Day is marked globally to celebrate the efforts of workers in nation-building.

The 2020 celebration, unfortunately, cannot be marked with the usual May Day parades as has been the tradition for so many years. This is as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

Protocols of social distancing meant to stem the spread of COVID-19 means that workers cannot gather to celebrate the 2020 May Day with the hustle and bustle that comes with it.

However, the efforts of some frontline workers especially in this extra-ordinary times cannot be overlooked at this point as they give themselves selflessly.

In reverence to that, the day will be marked in Ghana with a Virtual Celebration by the Trade Union Congress in collaboration with the State Broadcaster, GBC.

The Keynote Speaker, President of the Republic Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will be in the studios of GBC to deliver His address to Ghanaian workers.

The Virtual May Day Celebration will focus on COVID-19 and the world of work.

GBC wishes all workers both in the formal and informal sectors AYEKOOO!
