An Accra Circuit Court has sentenced a 29-year-old trader to 20 years imprisonment for pulling a machete on the Country Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and robbing him and his wife.
The convict, Mohammed Buzu, was found guilty on two charges of causing harm and robbery.
He is to serve five years for causing harm and 15 years for robbery.
The Circuit court judge Rosemary Baah Torsu said the convict will serve 20 years for the two charges.
Two other persons, Kenneth Antwi, 25, and Baffour Adjei Gyimah, 34, both traders were charged with abetment of crime and dishonestly receiving but were discharged by the court.
Prior to the judgement, the three accused persons denied the charges and went through full trial before the court.
