Hearing of an interlocutory injunction application against the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), has been adjourned to January 9, 2024.
Former Minister of Sanitation Cecilia Dapaah and her husband Daniel Osei Kufuor filed the application on grounds that the OSP’s re-seizure of their money and re-freezing of their bank accounts on September 5, are unfair and unlawful. During Tuesday’s hearing, lawyer for the OSP, Esther Fafa Tetteh, requested to meet the judge in chambers.
On their return, Justice Joseph Adu-Owusu Agyeman said the OSP’s lawyer requested a two-week adjournment because of some developments that may affect the outcome of the case. Madam Dapaah and her husband contend that their application for judicial review is a result of the OSP’s prejudicial and arbitrary conduct from the inception of his investigations into corruption and corrupt-related offences allegedly involving them.
They claim that the action is to prevent further violations of their constitutional rights and also restrain the OSP from continuing investigations pending the determination of the application. They also want the court to order the OSP to release the seized money and unfreeze their bank accounts.
