A news report of GBC’s Radio Ghana early last year has resulted in the construction and commissioning of a fully-furnished three-unit classroom block for pupils of Kwadwo Fosu D/A Primary School in the Ayensuano District of the Eastern Region.

The newly constructed school building fully-funded by the Ayensuano District Assembly includes a three-unit classroom stocked with dual-desks, office for the Head teacher, Staff Common Room, stores, and toilet facility for the pupil.

Early last year, Our Eastern Regional Correspondents Michael Kofi Kenetey and Juliet Enyonam Korkor reported that a school facility at Kwadwo Fosu D/A Primary School had been destroyed by heavy rainstorm for over six months which compelled pupils to access education in a nearby uncompleted church building and a private residence at Kwadwo Fosu in the Yakoko Electoral Area in the Ayensuano District of the Eastern Region.

Few months after the news report upon follow-up to the school, our correspondents found out that the District Assembly has commenced the construction of a new three-unit classroom block for the school.

Through the efforts of the District Chief Executive, Josephine Awuku Ansaa Inkoom, the school block has been completed, furnished with desks, commissioned and has been handed-over to the school authority for use.

Speaking during the commissioning, the DCE, Mrs.  Awuku Ansaa Inkoom noted that education is the bedrock of progress in society and the new facility will serve as a foundation for knowledge, growth and community advancement.

She urged the school authority and the community to develop the habit of good maintenance culture to avoid deterioration of the facility.

The Head teacher of Kwadwo Fosu D/A Primary School, Amos Adu-Afari commended all stakeholders who played a critical role in helping to construct the facility for the school.

He was optimistic that the assurance from the DCE, Mrs.  Awuku Ansaa Inkoom to help complete the six-unit GETFUND project which started under the erstwhile John Dramani Mahama administration and has been abandoned will be completed for Kwadwo Fosu to have a complete Basic School.

The District Education Director, Rev. Alexander Narh Amanya noted that the facility will serve as a beacon of hope and create a great education opportunity for the community.

“The facility will help bring the three pillars of a nurturing learning environment such as knowledge, skills and values that will help in building society” Reverend Narh Amanya.

The Assemblyman for Yakoko Electoral Area, Emmanuel Ayitey expressed his appreciation to all stakeholders and the DCE for coming to their aid when the school building was raised down by the rainstorm.

He noted that together with School Management Committee, SMC, the Parent-Teacher Association PTA will ensure that they maintain the facility for it to be in good condition.
