Ghana’s President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, says the territorial integrity of the country cannot be ignored or taken for granted.

According to him, his government has made intentional efforts in strategic planning to ensure the safety and security of many Ghanaians.

The president made the remarks during the State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, on the floor of parliament.

President Akufo-Addo highlighted in his delivery that Ghana has remained unaffected by the extremism witnessed in neighbouring countries due to meticulous planning.

He also underscored the commitment to the well-being of the armed forces and all security agencies, emphasising the allocation of resources to ensure their readiness.

The President has therefore reassured the nation of its current state, asserting, “Our nation is safe and secure.”

The President further noted significant enhancements in the equipment and capabilities of the police force, emphasising that they are now better equipped than ever before.

Recognising the challenges posed by extremism in other parts of West Africa, President Akufo-Addo cautioned against taking the territorial integrity of the country for granted, emphasising the need for continued vigilance.
