Ghana loses about $4 Billion annually to environmental degradation – Report

Ghana loses about four billion dollars annually to environmental degradation. Out of this, 400 million dollars is sunk into sanitation issues. This amounts to about six percent of the country’s GDP.
The level of loss was made known at the launch of the state of the Environment Report 2016 in Accra.
The immediate past Director of the Institute for Environment and Sanitation Studies of the University of Ghana, Prof. Chris Gordon who presented an overview of the report, said issues such as Climate Change, Sanitation, Water and Wetlands need to be addressed with all the seriousness it deserves.
