Health walk and clean-up exercise organised to warm up for 67th Independence Day Parade in Koforidua

As part of activities in preparation for the 67th Independence Day Celebration in Koforidua on March 6, the security agencies in the Eastern Regional Capital, including the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana National Fire Service, and Ghana Prisons Service, have embarked on a health and fitness walk through the principal streets of Koforidua to get themselves fit and healthy towards the 67th Independence Day Anniversary Celebration. 

The health and fitness walk saw hundreds of security officers participate. It commenced from the Eastern Regional Police Headquarters, popularly called Galloway, through the Central Police Station, All Nations University City Campus, Agartha Market, and other principal streets of Koforidua to announce the security’s preparedness and readiness towards the celebration.

Speaking to GBC NEWS, the Eastern Regional Police Commander, DCOP Emmanuel Twumasi-Ankrah, mentioned that the security service in the region is fully equipped and ready to provide the needed security and safety during the celebration.

In a related development towards the preparation towards the 67th Independence Day Celebration, Graphic Communications Group Limited, GCGL, in collaboration with the Eastern Regional Branch of Zoomlion Ghana Limited, has organised a clean-up exercise in Koforidua, the Eastern Regional capital.

The exercise is to enhance cleanliness and improve sanitation in the city of Koforidua as the region gears up to host this year’s Independence Day celebration.

The clean-up exercise saw workers of Graphic Communications Group Limited, Zoomlion Ghana Limited, and some elderly community members draining the choked gutters and sweeping the streets, among others.

In an interview with GBC NEWS, the Sales Manager of Graphic Communications Group Limited, Mr. George Danso, mentioned that their decision to embark on the exercise is to ensure that the city is clean as the city gets prepared to host the 67th Independence Day Celebration.

He advised everyone to make a conscious effort to ensure clean environment at all times.

The Eastern Regional Coordinator of Zoomlion Ghana Limited, Faustina Shardey, noted that the exercise is to promote cleanliness in the regional capital as the region gets prepared to host the 67th Independence Day Parade.

She opined that cleanliness is a collective responsibility; hence, everyone must clean their environment regularly and see cleanliness as their responsibility.
