The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has published a list of 907 small-scale mining licenses that are facing possible revocation.

This move follows a comprehensive review of 1,278 existing licenses as part of the government’s ongoing efforts to sanitize Ghana’s mining sector. The review was submitted to the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah (MP), on Monday, July 21, 2025.

Out of the total licenses reviewed:
• 316 were cleared with no outstanding issues.
• 962 were flagged for various irregularities.
• 55 licenses have already been revoked.

The remaining 907 licenses are now under threat of revocation due to concerns such as:
• Missing documentation
• Procedural irregularities
• Data quality issues

A three-member committee has been set up to receive and process petitions or corrections related to these irregularities. License holders are advised to engage with the committee before the Minister’s deadline.

In a related development, the Ministry is also preparing to launch a review of large-scale mining licenses to identify and address similar issues in that sector.
