The Director of Navy Operations at the Ghana Navy, Captain Atia Yaw has called for increased surveillance and security on Ghana’s waters due to the spate of pirate attacks.

This he believes can be achieved if more resources are allocated the Naval command.

Captain Atia also cautioned Mariners to be on high alert for the possibility of pirates on Ghana’s waters.

His comments come after a Ghanaian fishing vessel was attacked by pirates last Thursday, kidnapping five expatriate workers.

The Pirate fishing vessel has still not been found.
